We don't ready-made curry powders from the shops. Most of the available products are of low quality. We purchase our the ingredients for spice mixes. Wash them to clean them of dust and other unwanted debris. Then its dried in the natural sun light. The kitchen ladies have been mixing curry powders since they were young girls. You will not find a more authentic curry powder mix from the souvenir shops. Do you wish to learn how to use curry powder in meals? Then, inform the team and agree on a time slot for a session. Fishing has been the oldest trade for many locals in the region. In the early years Fisherman from as far as Negambo used to travel up to Kalpitiya just for the fishing season. Depending if the fishermen are going to the the deeper seas or the surrodung are for fishing, the main harbour welcomes the returning fishing boats around 16:00hrs. But on Sundays Fishermen do not go fishing. Sunday is the day where they spend with their families. Therefore you can experience how the fishermen come back to the fishing harbor in Kalpitiya. Sometimes there are smaller boats arriving at the fishing harbor next to Ruuk Village. Just take stroll to the jetty with your camera.
